HUB
Lower Hub
In the Lower Hub every morning is jam packed full of exciting learning opportunities for Year 3 and 4 children. The room itself is spacious and has a range of resources designed to meet different needs and learning styles, including 2 Tuff Trays to provide ample hands-on learning.
Each session runs with a maximum of 15 children.
We start the day with our independent tasks which help to develop hand-eye coordination and counting skills. This is followed by our Maths lesson, where we use lots of practical equipment and songs to meet our learning objectives.
After Maths, we love to have a Dough Disco or do some Write Dance before we start our phonics lesson. During this session we learn and practise our sounds in a variety of ways. We then enjoy a snack and share a story together in our cosy book corner before break time.
Following break, the children participate in their English lesson. This is comprised of handwriting practise, a comprehension task, group reading and a writing activity. We use the Read Write Inc. scheme to support both our reading and phonics work.
We incorporate a short period of ‘choosing time’ before lunch where the children lead their own learning through play, this also provides an opportunity for the children to further develop their social skills.
The children also benefit immensely from a weekly Forest School session. Research shows that children are stimulated by the outdoors and that over time they can experience ‘an increase in their self belief, confidence, learning capacity, enthusiasm, communication and problem-solving skills and emotional well being’ (forestschooltrainig.co.uk)
‘I love going to the Hub’ (Karman/Year 3) ‘The Hub is the best’ (Luca/Year 4)
Upper Hub
Welcome to the Upper School Hub!
We are a dedicated classroom catering for SEND for years 5/6. Our goal is to support our children in reaching their full potential by using a varied and wide-ranging approach to their learning. Our aim is to provide a more bespoke learning plan to suit each child's individual needs.
In our classroom, we strive to create an atmosphere where children feel safe, valued, and have a sense of belonging. We have a positive "can-do" attitude and use positive reinforcement to build on their self-esteem.
Our classroom is smaller and adapts as needed. Many of our children find this calmer and quieter environment allows them to become more focused, enabling them to access learning more effectively. We have a wide range of equipment and resources that are well-suited for smaller group learning, providing opportunities for social interaction. We believe in making learning fun through games and activities.
Our aim is to provide a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child can thrive. We are committed to supporting their academic, social, and emotional development.
